The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men’s Basketball team opened MCAC Southern Division play with a 78-60 win over the Ridgewater College Warriors.
The Golden Rams jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they opened a 40-18 advantage at halftime behind stifling defense. The Golden Rams held Ridgewater to 23.3% shooting including 0 for 9 on three point attempts while forcing 14 turnovers in the half.
Ridgewater battled back in the second half but could never get the deficit under 14 points while Anoka-Ramsey continued to force turnovers. All told, Anoka-Ramsey forced 25 turnovers for the game, 20 of which were steals.
Anoka-Ramsey struggled shooting the ball throughout the game, managing only 40.5%, but made up for it with 20 offensive rebounds. The Golden Rams won the battle of the boards 49-44, marking the fifth straight game they have out-rebounded their opponent.
Leading the Golden Rams in scoring once again was Trey Scott with 27 points to go along with seven rebounds and four steals. Dan Konz poured in 15 points on 6 of 11 shooting while adding four rebounds and four steals. Richard Harmon had a great all-around game with ten points, nine rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Tyler Salkey chipped in ten points and seven rebounds, while Tim Daniels also recorded seven rebounds on the evening.
The Golden Rams improve to 11-3 on the season; 1-0 in the MCAC Southern Division. They will briefly step out of MCAC play to take on Western Wisconsin Technical College on Monday, January 10th at 8:00pm on the Coon Rapids campus. The Golden Rams defeated Western 84-78 back on November 20th.
