Game Story: Big Second Half Leads to 76-58 Win

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Basketball opened up a 22 point lead, 62-40, in the second half to pull away from Ridgewater College 76-58 on Saturday afternoon.

After taking a 30-23 lead at the break, thanks to a strong defensive performance, the Golden Rams found their shooting touch in the second half, hitting 19 of their 32 second half attempts (59.4%) including 6 of 10 from the three-point line.

After taking their 62-40 lead with about 10 minutes left in the game, Ridgewater mounted a 9-0 run to trim the deficit to 13, but a couple buckets inside by Matt Fridberg helped Anoka-Ramsey put the game away.

The first half was filled with turnovers and missed shots as both teams turned it over 11 times, while Ridgewater was held to just 27.6% shooting.  The Golden Rams did manage to shoot 50% in the half, but missed a number of open looks around the basket.

The Golden Rams finished the game connecting on 33 of their 60 shots (55%), including 8 of 18 from the three-point line (44.4%).

Trey Scott once again led the Golden Rams in scoring with 28 points on 10 of 18 shooting, and 5 of 10 from three; Scott also chipped in with five rebounds.  He was followed in scoring by Fridberg (10 points), Tyler Salkey (10 points), Richard Harmon (9 points), and Dan Konz (8 points).

Konz and Fridberg led the rebounding effort with seven and six respectively.

Anoka-Ramsey is now 14-7 on the season, 3-4 in the MCAC.  The Golden Rams will take a break from conference action to take on the St. Thomas JV team on Wednesday, February 2nd at 6:30pm on the Coon Rapids campus.
