The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Basketball team improved to 7-1 on the season with a 94-84 road victory over Hibbing Community College on Friday night.
The Golden Rams jumped out to an early 16-6 lead on the Cardinals behind hot three-point shooting from Trent Pollard and Lemuel Doe.
The lead was extended to 31-13 with Anoka-Ramsey scoring inside, outside, and in transition.
From there the game was played evenly for much of the night with Hibbing trimming the deficit to 44-31 on a buzzer-beating 35 foot shot before halftime.
The Golden Ram lead remained around ten points during the second half before a 11-4 run by Hibbing cut the score to 72-67 with six minutes remaining.
After a timeout, Chris Kpahn hit a corner three-point shot followed by Chris Byrgiotis tracking down a long defensive rebound and finding Joey Weldon for a layup in transition to push the lead back to ten with 5:30 to play.
The lead was extended back to 13 at 84-71 with 3:45 left in the game.
Joey Weldon lead Anoka-Ramsey with 31 points on 11 of 16 shooting while hauling in 21 rebounds, his second straight game with over 20 boards.
Trent Pollard scored 27 points on 7 of 14 shooting and making 10 of 12 free throws to go with seven assists.
Lemuel Doe finished with 17 points knocking down all four of his three-point attempts.
Anthony Brama came off the bench and pulled in a season-high eight rebounds; and Joe Lyons chipped in five assists.
Anoka-Ramsey will face Rainy River Community College on Saturday afternoon in International Falls.
