Game Recap: Golden Rams defeat Milwaukee Tech

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College Men's Basketball team started their season off on a good note with a 91-78 win over visiting Milwaukee Area Technical College.

The Golden Rams jumped out to an early 9-2 lead in the first four minutes before Milwaukee trimmed the lead. The half continued to stay close until a late run by Anoka-Ramsey pushed the lead to 42-27 at the break.

Anoka-Ramsey shot 48.5% in the first half and held Milwaukee to 38.7%.

The second half was much of the same as the Golden Rams pushed their lead to as many as 28 (78-50) before some late turnovers allowed Milwaukee to cut it to nine with 45 seconds left. But an emphatic dunk by Joey Weldon silenced the comeback along with late free throws.

Anoka-Ramsey finished the game shooting 50% (32-64) including a 10 for 26 effort from the three point line and making 17 of their 21 free throw attempts.

Freshman Trent Pollard finished with a game high 32 points on 10 of 17 shooting.

Freshman Joey Weldon had a double double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Sophomore Joe Lyons chipped in 13 points while freshmen Chris Byrgiotis and Anthony Brama each tallied ten points to round out the double figure scorers.

The Golden Rams resume action on Saturday, November 9th at 4:00pm vs. Madison Area Tech.
